When/Where
November 11th at the Hollywood Playhouse. Two levels, three bars, one stage. Men in Black doormen. Very pleasant until they are forced not to be. Hot, friendly, knowledgeable bartenders. What may be the greatest sound system I have ever heard in an L.A. nightclub. Men and women spinning upside down from the ceiling, draping themselves across the bar and shakin’ what I wish my mama had given me.
Who
 The requisite glitterati (oh you know who you are), several globally minded celebrities (Rosario Dawson, Chris Klein, Marisa Tomei), more than one generous Hollywood promoter (Brent Bolthouse, Igor Zag), The Lady Tigra, Darling Stilettos, countless gogo girls, and one man in an ascot. A necessary evil.

 Film making founders, Tiffany Persons, Filippo Bozotti and Rebecca Chaiklin are the founders of Shine on Sierra Leone. A non for profit organization that provides education and support programs for students in the West African country. By helping parents and community members with support programs, nutrition and micro finance loans, SOSL promotes the philosophy of fostering independence instead of feeding codependence. Given bootstraps everyone can pull themselves up.

Want to help? There is a monthly fee the children must pay to attend school. $5,000 Leones which works out to be $1.33. That’s it. Less than two bucks a month. The price of half your favorite Starbucks coffee.  Donate here.

Why
Because it’s good to leave your house wearing your favorite sky high stacked platform boots and it’s even better when you can step out in those same shoes for a cause that’s bigger than you. Because without the help of one another we will all fail (and not just walking down a few flights of satirs after the 3rd cocktail in the aforementioned knee high regulators).  Because education is the great equalizer. Change not Charity.
